Hi, I’m Richard Gray – let me introduce myself.
I opened my first furniture repair and refinishing shop in Albany, OR in 1972. I had spent three years teaching myself the trade while working for my father, Pete Gray in his retail furniture store.
Within a year and a half, we had a staff of six and were doing quite a lot of business. Over the years ahead, I sharpened my skills and expanded my knowledge. We became the mid-valley repair center for three major moving companies. Additionally, I taught classes in several locations in the Pacific Northwest to other repair professionals.
I had been running my shop for twenty years in the Albany area, then later in the Portland area when another opportunity opened up for me. For the next ten years, or so, I was in the home remodeling business where I picked up additional skills and techniques that serve me well now.
Beginning in 2002 my wife and I took ownership of my father’s furniture store when he retired. When the housing industry went bust many furniture buyers began holding off on their purchases of new furniture. So, in the Spring of 2009 we decided to change over to a furniture repair center. We correctly figured that a lot of people would go back to restoring and repairing older better-built pieces preserving and extending their life.
As you can see, we perform repairs and restoration work on a very large variety of furniture (and some non-furniture items like the broken trunk of an elephant accent piece we just repaired). If we can help, give us a ring or stop by.
